License Renewal

To renew your Texas CPA license, you must annually complete the required Continuing Professional Education (CPE) hours and pay the renewal fee by the last day of your birth month, which is done through the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy (TSBPA) Online Services portal.
You need 120 hours of CPE every three years, including at least 4 hours of Texas-specific Ethics every two years, with no carryover of unused credits. Non-resident Texas CPAs can often meet the Ethics requirement by affirming they meet their home state’s requirements.
Renewals
Individual licensees can use the Online Services login to manage all phases of the renewal process. Select Annual License Renewal from the Licensee Menu to complete your renewal online. If all requirements are met your license will be issued the next business day.
You can begin submitting information on your renewal six weeks prior to the submission deadline. You can report CPE courses throughout the year as you complete a course, and then track your remaining CPE requirement. Submit your renewal with fee payment prior to the deadline. Credit cards accepted are American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa.
If you have not submitted your renewal prior to the deadline, you can still complete your renewal online.
Corrections
Individual licensees can use Online Services to view the reasons that your license has not been issued, and then submit additions and corrections to your annual license renewal. Once all requirements are met your license will be issued the next business day. Your status can be viewed online, and you will also receive a license card through the mail.
CPE Ethics Course Requirements
Every licensee must complete a 4-credit ethics course approved by the Board pursuant to Board Rule 523.131. In addition, licensees must complete this 4-credit ethics course on a 2-year cycle (i.e., every other year).
Updating Contact Information
Based on Board Rule 501.93, each licensee or firm is required to notify the Board of a change of mailing address or telephone number within 30 days of the effective date of the change.
As the Board sends emails to licensees as an additional method of notification, licensees need to update email addresses as soon as a change occurs.
Individual licensees can use Online Services to submit changes to your address, phone number, and email address. Changes can be viewed the next business day.
