Your Application for the TBA Accounting Student Scholarship will be submitted to the Financial Aid Department on your behalf by the Department of Accounting after it is approved by the accounting director or dean. If an award is made, you will be asked to sign an acceptance letter for the award confirming that you continue to meet the requirements for the award.
Amount of the Award
Awards of varying amounts have been given to accounting students. Minimum and maximum awards are determined by the Board with the assistance of the Qualifications Committee. The recommended minimum award per semester is $1,500 and the maximum lifetime award is usually $12,000.
Uses for the Award
The award may be used at a participating college or university in Texas that is recognized by the Board. The award may be used for tuition, fees, books, supplies, and living expenses incurred by the student in connection with the student’s accounting program.
Repayment of the Award
A student who receives an award from the TBA Accounting Student Scholarship Program and who does not take at least one section of the CPA Examination administered by the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy within three years of submitting the Application of Intent is required to reimburse the Board, on demand, for all funds the student received from this scholarship program.
